In industrial applications, both tubing and piping are used to transport fluids, although tubing has several benefits over piping. Tubing works better than piping and is less expensive, easier to install, and maintain.

Because tube fittings include an elastomer-based seal to a mating component or a mechanical metal-to-metal seal, they are made to be leak-proof even in harsh conditions.

On the other hand, heavy machinery is needed to cut threads on a threaded pipe connector and use pipe dope to reduce leakage. In systems with fewer connectors or possible leak spots, tubing provides more flexibility.
